Switzerland Energy | Historical
The most important types of energy used in Switzerland in the 20th century were petroleum, electricity from nuclear and hydroelectric power plants, and natural gas. For many years, coal also made an important contribution to Switzerland's energy supply. Alternative energy sources still play practically no role and are only beginning to be recognised. A look back makes it all the clearer what we, in a country without large mineral resources, have gotten ourselves into when it comes to energy supply and where we should be heading. (luk)
