The Canton of Jura | the History of Switzerland's Youngest Canton
The first Jura plebiscite, which proposed the creation of a new canton, took place on 23 June 1974. 51.9% of voters in the seven districts of the Jura voted in favour, with a record high turnout of 90%. A milestone on a journey that had begun long before and has not yet come to a definitive end. (wp/luk)
