Otto F. Walter (1928-1994)
From 1956, the Swiss writer Otto F. Walter headed the literary programme at his father's "Walter-Verlag" and brought about the transformation of what had previously been a conservative Catholic company into an important publisher of the literary avant-garde of the time. After differences about the progressive orientation, however, he left the publishing house in 1966. With his book "Der Stumme" he achieved a literary breakthrough. Engaged, he repeatedly intervened critically in socio-political debates. (axa)
