On 4 October 1935, in the morning after two o'clock, Pius Haberthür was found beaten to death under an apple tree not far from his house. For the population the case was clear: patricide! Fritz Haberthür, who was known as a thug, had still tried to get the life insurance paid out on the night of the murder and had been "barked at" as the perpetrator by a sniffer dog. Despite the lack of direct evidence, the jury needed only three days to sentence Haberthür to life in prison. 14 years later, the "father killer" appealed to the biggest Swiss star lawyer of his time. After the latter had pulverised the "dog experiment" as inconclusive, things initially looked quite good for Haberthür ... (iwi)
