Coronavirus: Laboratory Hospital Triemli PCR Tests
A PCR test determines whether a person has an infection with the new coronavirus. The test is performed via a nasopharyngeal swab or throat swab. In some institutions, a PCR test can also be done via a saliva collection. The result is usually available between 24 to 48 hours. The smear test is performed by physicians, hospitals and testing centers. The corresponding analysis of the sample is carried out in an approved laboratory. The following images show the various steps in the analysis of the PCR test performed at the central laboratory of Zurich's Triemli City Hospital. (bag/oro)
