Occupy Wall Street (2011)
Occupy Wall Street was the largest protest movement in North America from October 15, 2011. The movement's central demands were greater control of the banking and financial sector by politicians, a reduction in the influence of business on political decisions, and a reduction in social inequality between rich and poor. The Park Occupation, like the movement from the beginning, had influential advocates, such as Nancy Pelosi, Michael Bloomberg, and economists Jeffrey Sachs and Joseph E. Stiglitz. (wp)
