Schweiz Zuoz | Chalandamarz (1944)
In Rhaeto-Romanic Switzerland, "Chalandamarz" marks the beginning of the month of March. On this day, the winter is rung out with bells and the approaching beginning of spring is celebrated. The custom, which is depicted in the well-known children's book "Schellenursli" by Selina Chönz and Alois Carigiet, can be relived in this small series of pictures from 1944. (luk)
