Switzerland Motorsport | Rheineck-Walzenhausen-Lachen (1910-1954)
From 1910, the ACS section St.Gallen-Appenzell started a first mountain test drive over 6.5 kilometres. The route at the time was Rheineck-Walzenhausen-Lachen. For decades, it has been the major motor sport event in eastern Switzerland with an impact far beyond. Unforgotten are car brands such as Bugatti, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Jaguar, Cooper and Porsche, which made their appearance between Rheineck and Lachen. After an interruption at the time of the Second World War, the race was held again in 1947 until 1954, when the serious accident at Le Mans in 1955 led to a general ban on road racing in Switzerland.
