GROSSBRITANNIEN ZWEITER WELTKRIEG KRIEGSENDE
VE Day crowd. Large crowds gathered in London, UK, on 8 May 1945 to celebrate the end of hostilities in Europe during the Second World War. The war had started nearly six years earlier on 1 September 1939. The German surrender occurred on 7 and 8 May, and in London more than a million people filled the streets of Whitehall and the Mall.
