Brussels, the capital city of Belgium, seen from space by the Ikonos satellite. North is at top. At the southern end of the Parc de Bruxelles (centre left) is the Palais Royal. The Parc du Cinquantenaire is at lower right. The European Parliament lies to the west of the Parc Leopold (lower centre). Launched in 1999, Ikonos was the first commercial satellite to collect data at one- metre resolution.
