CAP OF FLY AGARIC MUSHROOM, AMANITA
Top view of the cap of the Fly Agaric mushroom, Amanita muscaria. The red colour of the cap and its white dots serve as warning colours as this is a toxic fungus. Amanita muscaria is closely related to the Death Cap toadstool (A. phalloides) and is found on woodland floors. The toxins of A. muscaria are not normally lethal, but will often induce hallucinations. The hallucinogenic substances it contains are derivatives of isoxazole and ibotenic acid.
