According to media reports on 13 February 2012, the boards of American Airlines' parent corporation and US Airways Group have voted separately to approve a merger that will create the world's largest airline. The deal is to be officially announced early 14 February in the US, and documents with the details are to be filed with the US Bankruptcy Court in New York, USA, the same day. American Airlines declared bankruptcy in November 2011, and has continued operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which grants companies protection from creditors while they reorganize their debt.
