SCHWEIZ UNSPUNNENSTEIN SHAWNE FIELDING
Wife of former Swiss ambassador to Germany, Shawne Fielding Borer, poses next to the legendary Unspunnen stone, in Saigneleger, Switzerland, August 12, 2001. The stone, stolen by separatists of the Canton of Jura in 1984, was returned to Shawne Fielding Borer in 2001, with some stars engraved by the thieves, symbolizing the stars of the European Union. The original stone was stolen again on Saturday Aug. 20, 2005 from a hotel in Interlaken where it was on display ahead of the upcoming Unspunnen festival. The Unspunnen stone is named after the most revered stone throwing contest of Switzerland and has been tossed for a century. It is regarded as a cultural heritage of the country.
