SCHWEIZ CERN PETER HIGGS
Peter Higgs (b. 1929), British theoretical physicist, at the CMS (compact muon solenoid) detector, CERN (the European particle physics laboratory) near Geneva, Switzerland. The CMS detector sits around the large hadron collider (LHC) particle accelerator. The main goal of the CMS experiment is the discovery of the Higgs boson, an elementary particle predicted by the Standard Model of particle physics, but yet to be directly detected (as of 2010).
