MAJOGI, PAKISTAN- JANUARY 2011 .Having just received a month's ration of food aid from USAID, exhausted father of five Shaukat Khan rests on a charpoi in the family's rented flood damaged house in the Charsadda having been displaced for a third time in two years. Originally a farmer from Ghundoo village close to the Afghan border, Shaukat has fled twice from conflict and unable to return home due to continued fighting, lost everything in Pakistan's floods five months ago. "In Bajaur, we had a lot of land planted with crops but these were destroyed by America. In total we had fifteen acres which was plenty but now military operations have disturbed our life. It's because of America being in Afghanistan that Bajaur is not at peace. I was happy when the operation first started. I hoped that after a month it would end and we could go back but I'm still displaced and now because of the floods we are in an even worse condition. We are near to the border so we feel the direct effect of the war between America and the Taliban. We want peace and we want to get back to our lives. If they cannot bring peace, then they should at least bring us food". (KEYSTONE/NOOR/Alixandra Fazzina)
