JAPAN WELTKRIEG KAMIKAZE PILOTEN
This undated picture from World War II shows young pilots from the Japanese Royal Navy drinking cups of water before their kamikaze suicidal attack mission, in which pilots crash-dove bomb-laden planes into enemy vessels. Japan lost some 2,000 aircraft in kamikaze attacks, sinking 34 enemy vessels and damaging 288. More than half a century after World War II, veterans of Japan's "zero fighters" are still haunted by regret that they survived their "Kamikaze" missions.
