COLOURED RADAR SATELLITE IMAGE OF EDINBURGH
Edinburgh. Coloured radar satellite image of the Scottish capital Edinburgh (left of centre). North is towards the top. This image was made by combining three frames taken on different dates. Differences between the frames show as areas of colour. Farmland is red, orange, green or blue, the different colours indicating growth of different crops between frames. Colours on the sea are due to differences in wave patterns. Edinburgh lies on the south bank of the Firth of Forth. To its west is the city airport (black). Also visible here is the town of Perth (top left) on the Firth of Tay. Image produced by European Radar Satellite 1. Area approximately 100km x 100km. (KEYSTONE/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY/ESA, EURIMAGE)
