In Culemborg the last factory where cigars are manually produced in the Netherlands, can be found. Since 1919 the family company Van der Donk produces hand made cigars. The raw tobacco comes from Brazil, Cuba and Indonesia. The cigars are manually made in different stages. First the raw tobacco is processed into the interior material, for which the three different kinds are used. These kinds are being moistened, the vein is taken out, the leaves are cut and dried again on a wooden attick floor. The next step is making groups. The interior material receives a cover, and is pressed into the cigar mold. After one night of molding and drying, the forms are turned and molded again after which the parts who stick out are being cut off. The next stage is that the forms receive the final cover and are sorted on colour, packed in wooden boxes and dried further. (KEYSTONE/ANP/Koen Suyk) === ===
