Planted Wildlife Overpass Rynetel Area
The Swiss Federal Roads Office (Astra) has completed a planted wildlife overpass in the Rynetel area, in the forest between Suhr and Gränichen, in the fall of 2020 at a cost of 13.9 million Swiss francs. The wildlife bridge over the A1 highway, is the first green bridge from wood. The planted bridge serves animals for crossing the highway. The bridge consists of two arched wooden girders, each with a span of about 17 meters and a usable width of 50 meters for the animals. Primarily it is intended for polecats, stoats, weasels, pine martens, field hares, deer and wild boars, but basically any animal can use the bridge. (nzz/oro)
