DDR VOLKSAUFSTAND 1953
LEIPZIG RIOTS - Demonstrators throw files and propaganda material on street from windows of Leipzig headquarters of communist free German youth organisation after stroming it. Some 80,000 persons demonstrated against the East German communist regime in Leipzig during the June 17, 1953, uprising. Communist offices were demolished and propaganda stands were set afire. Refugees brought pictures of the Leipzig events with them to West Berlin. (AP-Photo/khs/str)
