JAPAN WELTKRIEG NAGASAKI 1945
Nagasaki atomic bomb blast. Computer enhanced color photograph of the atomic bomb blast over Nagasaki, Japan, on 8 August 1945. A mushroom cloud rises over 60,000 feet (18,000 meters) into the air. The bomb which caused this explosion was named 'Fat Man'. It delivered a power of 20 Kilo- tons, equivalent to 20,000 tons of high explosive TNT. The effect was 73,884 people killed directly from the blast, 76,796 injured, not counting the long term victims of radiation. The bomb was dropped from an aircraft, exploding before it hit the ground to produce a mushroom cloud of great height. The photograph was taken from the bomber aircraft as it made its escape.
