USA SEATTLE HOMELESS
Antonio Torres, 22, sits in his room at a temporary housing facility on October 3, 2010. Torres, who has had kidney failure since age 13, has been homeless for several years after growing up in foster care and in group homes. One in 5 kids coming out of foster care will be homeless within 2 years. Two million young adults across the nation are homeless. Each night 1000 young adults in the Seattle area are homeless. Seattle is one of the few US cities with homeless shelters for young adults, but even here they are being turned away in record numbers. Unemployment amongst young adults is at 19 percent, the highest it's been since 1948. (KEYSTONE/CAVAN IMAGES/Mike Kane)
