USA LARRY ADLER
American Mouth Organist Larry Adler (1914-2001), who made the harmonica a respected musical instrument for the first time (stage debut was in 1928). Composer and comedian as well as a performer, Larry Adler was born in Baltimore, USA. He toured for many years in variety and only learned how to read music when he was 30. In the 1950s, he changed from playing to composing: the films for which he has written the music include Genevieve and High Wind in Jamaica. Darius Milhaud, Mathew Arnold and Vaughn Williams have all composed special harmonica music for him. Larry Adler died at the age of 87.
