In Switzerland, the opinion on agglomerations is divided. Die Einen sprechen von "Verbauungen" und "Bausuenden", die Anderen von "Ihrer Vielfalt, die ein Abbild der foederalistischen und liberalen Prinzipien des Staates wiederspiegeln". 45 Prozent der Schweizer wohnen in Agglomerationen. Das sind mehr als in den Kernstaedten oder auf dem Land.
