Church of Santiago de Chalchuapa or St. James, El Salvador Central America...This temple was built in the seventeenth century and it is devoted to St. James...The location of this church was strategic during colonial times, since it was located along the trade route between the Captaincy General of Guatemala and the town of San Salvador...Its style is baroque. The facade is divided into three bodies by very well marked and distinctive cornices. There is also a bell tower on the right side of it...There are two masonry domes where the statue of St. James, patron and saint of this town, is displayed. Inside you will appreciate two wooden carved altars also showing the highly ornate baroque style. There are framed painting from the colonial era, beautiful religious images and more.
