UNEXPLODED WWII BOMB, LONDON, 1948
Unexploded Word War II bomb. Policemen evacuating a family following the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb near University College Hospital, London, in around 1948. The 2,500-pound bomb, dating from 1941, was discovered buried in the ground. After people had been evacuated to a safe distance, the bomb was defused and removed by Army engineers. Hundreds of unexploded bombs (UXBs) were found in London during the war, and many have been discovered since the war ended.
