The municipal council had decided to give women the right to vote for the first time. The women were required to cast their ballot papers in a seperate box. However, the ballot for this municipality was revoked by the government of the canton of Valais and the Federation. The majority of cantons implemented female suffrage on the municipal and cantonal level in 1971. (KEYSTONE/PHOTOPRESS-ARCHIV/Gassmann) Eine Frau fuellt am 3.
