DEUTSCHLAND HIDEKI YUKAWA
Japanese scientist Hideki Yukawa, pictured in Lindau, West Germany, July 1953. Hideki Yukawa was born on January 23, 1907 in Tokyo and died on September 8, 1981 in Kyoto. Brought up in Kyoto and graduated from the local university in 1929, he was engaged on investigations in theoretical physics, particularly in the theory of elementary particles. The Imperial Prize of the Japan Academy was awarded to Yukawa in 1940, he received the Decoration of Cultural Merit in 1943, and the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1949. (KEYSTONE/DPA/Str) === , ===
