Ludwig Erhard, president by age of the Bundestag (lower house of the German parliament), congratulates Annemarie Renger on being elected President of the Bundestag, Bonn, December 13, 1972. The 53 year-old SPD MP received 438 of 513 valid votes. Renger was the first woman and the first social democrat to hold that office.
