Columns of smoke rise from the foot of Mount Usu following another eruptions that occuered near a hot spring town where all the residents have evacuated already Saturday April 1, 2000, in Touya village, 770 kilometers (475 miles) north of Tokyo. The eruption took place for the first time Mar 31 in 23 years and experts suggested the volcanic activities will continue for long period of time.
