One of the few still existing stone fences made of "Verucano" above Vermol in the "Sarganserland" region in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, draws long shadows into the winter landscape crossed by animal tracks, pictured on February 4, 2010. Around the middle of the 19th century "Verucano" was won for the manufacturing of various stone products. It was also used for building weather-resistent fences, which still exist because of their extraordinary durability. (KEYSTONE/Arno Balzarini)
