epa11244735 People who were evacuated from territories close to the frontline near Kupiansk, receive hot meals prepared by cooks from Ukrainian Railways' Food Train in Kharkiv, Western Ukraine, 26 March 2024, amid the Russian invasion. The Food Train project is a kitchen train equipped with modern technology that allows it to work even without electricity and deliver food to the most remote regions of Ukraine. The project was launched by the American philanthropist Howard G. Buffett together with the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine 'Ukrzaliznytsia' in the fall of 2023. After a blackout following a missile attack on power infrastructures in Kharkiv on 22 March 2024, the train arrived in the region to provide people with hot meals. For the three days since the blackout, a team of cooks prepared more than 15,000 portions of food for residents of Kharkiv and the region, the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleh Synehubov said.
