Reports state that the death toll rose to 347 from this year's floods in Sindh as United Nations called for donations of 357 million dollars to aid the victims. The floods triggered by heavy monsoon rains submerged large areas in the southern province of Sindh and affected millions of people, many of whom are still stranded. The floods were brought by heavy monsoon downpours which started at the end of August 2010. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said in statement that 'over seven million' have been affected by the deluge, which has flooded more than 2.4 million hectares of land and damaged more than 500,000 houses.
