SCHWEIZ SCHAEDLINGSBEKAEMPFUNG MAIKAEFER
Water pumps are used to distribute the pesticide Gesarol onto large trees and fight May bugs eating leaves and branches, photographed in 1951, in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. The may bug, also called doodlebug or cockchafer, infested many regions and became a major pest during the years of «mass flight» in the middle of the 20th century. Der Maikaefer wurde Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts zu einer wahren Plage in vielen Regionen. (KEYSTONE/PHOTOPRESS-ARCHIV/STR)
