PROTOSTARS IN THE ORION NEBULA
Wide view of the Orion Nebula superimposed with 304 protostars (yellow dots, lower left) taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. The Orion Nebula, is the closest star-forming region to Earth. The red areas are ionized and heated hydrogen gas by ultraviolet radiation from massive stars in Orion. The crescent shape, Barnard's loop encircles Orion the Hunter constellation. Orion's belt (centre) is made of three stars: Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka. Orion's feet are the stars Saiph (bottom left) and Rigel (bottom right). (KEYSTONE/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY/Rogelio B.
