OLYMPIA MOSKAU 1980
In this July 28, 1980 photo, Italy's Pietro Mennea, left, claims his victory and gold medal finish by raising his hands and yelling just after crossing finish line at the Moscow Olympics. He won the race in 20.19 seconds. At right is Britain's Allan Wells who finished just behind the Italian in 20.21 for the silver in the 200-meter event. Mennea, who held the 200 meter world record from 1979 to 1996 when Micheal Johnson of the US set a new world record, died in a Rome clinic on Thursday, March 21, 2013 after a long illness, agencies reported.
