Molotov-Ribbentrop-Pact (1939)
To safeguard his own interests, Josef Stalin decides to collaborate with Adolf Hitler. The German leader also sees advantages in an alliance with the East, hoping to smash the West together with the Soviet Union. On August 23, 1939, a non-aggression pact is signed and the division of Poland is secretly organised. (dv)
