Single parent households are among the most affected groups of the population that live under the poverty treshhold. In Switzerland, a poverty threshold based on a social existence minimum is applied in order to measure poverty. In 2014, 6.6% of the Swiss population, i.e. approximately 530,000 people, were affected by income poverty.
