It is located at the foot of the eastern face of Toedi mountain at 2453 meters above sea level above Linthal in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland. The Gruenhornhuette mountain hut was the first Alpine accommodation of the Swiss Alpine Club, SAC, and was built by the Toedi section in the founding year of SAC, 1863. For the SAC's 150th anniversary, it was changed into a small museum.
